Dick Judy is the quintessential career changer spanning two centuries. During his lifespan, he was an economics professor, serial entrepreneur, computer scientist, beef genetic researcher, book author, and more recently an inventor of algorithms to help workers transition to better careers.
Late in the last century he was a Professor of Economics and Computer Science at The University of Toronto studying the interplay between global economics and technology on the other side of the world in Russia, Eastern Europe, the Baltic States and China.
More recently, Dick was a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute where he coauthored Workforce 2020: Work and Workers in the 21st Century which led to numerous presentations, congressional testimonies and articles on the future of work. Shortly thereafter, he launched Workforce Associates to help local communities and states develop solutions to close skill gaps using the Workforce 2020 methodology.
While working with the locals, Dick applied his own personal work + learn experiences to develop a practical solution to help workers transition to new careers based on skills that they acquired from previous jobs using a software tool called TORQworks. Currently, Dick manages TORQ’s skunkworks, while continuing to impersonate Vladimir Lenin from his early days on the Eastern European economic stage.
This is not the last curtain call in the life and career for Dick Judy. Dick and his colleague, Bill Johnston, are currently working on a new encore called Work in the Age of Robots. Stay tuned….
