Gayatri serves as the Director of Opportunity for the Walmart Foundation. She manages the strategy and grant making for the opportunity portfolio including investments in global workforce development and retail training, veteran’s reintegration programs, inclusive economies, diversity & inclusion and US Manufacturing.
She is the former Director for the Wadhwani Foundation‘s US Office; a private family foundation based in silicon valley dedicated to leveraging technology for global economic development. She has worked with the Office of the Adviser to the Prime Minister of India for National Skills Development. Her work focused on building pathways in India’s higher education system, similar to the model of Community Colleges in the US.
She is the former Director for The Office of Career Services at Seattle University. There she served as career coach and advisor and was responsible for managing the university’s employer outreach program. She’s the former Executive Director of City Year Seattle and served as special assistant for boards and commissions in the Office of Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire.
She is a former Trustee of the Seattle Community College Board and former Board Member for the Center for Women and Democracy.
She attended Foothill-De Anza Community College before transferring to Seattle University where she completed her bachelor’s degree in political science and her MBA. She currently lives in Bentonville, AR with her husband Ryan and their son Rohan and daughter Kamala.
