Jim came to ACT in 2014. A first-generation college graduate, he leads ACT in enhancing our commitment to helping all people unlock and achieve their potential in school and the workplace.

Previously, Jim was deputy director of postsecondary success at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and has been the chief student affairs officer at Amherst College, Dartmouth College, NYU Abu Dhabi, and Swarthmore College. Earlier in his career, he also served as assistant dean and director for the American Indian Program at Stanford University.
Jim has an MA in education from Stanford University and a BS in criminal justice and sociology from Texas A&M University–Commerce. He is a PhD candidate in higher education and policy analysis at Stanford.
