Shelly Weir serves as Senior Vice President of Career Development for the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Educational Foundation where she oversees the strategic vision of workforce development. She supports the AHLA and Foundation agenda through career development to help strengthen the lodging industry workforce, and leads efforts to engage with community, non-profit, and governmental organizations where strategies to upskill American workers in the lodging industry align. In her role, Shelly also serves as the liaison between AHLA and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute to ensure the organization continues to provide hospitality students and working professionals with the critical education, certification and training that fosters long-term career opportunities.
Shelly is a member of the National Network of Business & Industry Associations, National Workforce Needs Coalition, National Advisory Board for DECA, and the Business & Industry Advisory Council of the Association for Career Tech Education. She has also represented the lodging industry on a variety of tasks forces with the US Departments of Labor and Education. Shelly obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University and her MBA from Auburn University. She resides in Orlando, Florida with her husband and two sons.
