Shift Into High Gear: Accelerate Equity Through a Learner-Centered Approach to Connecting Education and Work
As we begin to emerge from the pandemic, millions of workers will seek to relaunch their careers in new roles or even new industries. For many, successfully making these career shifts will require additional training and education. Yet acquiring this education will not be easy. Even before the pandemic, many working-age learners experienced challenges like limited time, limited finances, and limited education options that fit their experiences and goals. How can we remove these barriers and create more equitable pathways to education and career advancement?
This session will focus on a framework for achieving more equitable education and career outcomes that puts the needs and experiences of learners first. This learner-centered framework, developed by Strada Institute, emerged from more than 100 hours of conversations with adult learners struggling to make progress in their education and careers. It encompasses the key services, supports, and connection points necessary to creating more seamless career transitions.
In the session, we’ll share some of these interviews so audience members can hear firsthand about the learner experience. Next, we’ll introduce learner-centered strategies that have been successfully implemented by innovative leaders in education and workforce development. Finally, we’ll preview a new tool that showcases efforts to advance equity across the education-to-employment landscape and invite audience members to share their own strategies.
Join us to discover how learner-centered strategies can achieve more equitable education and career outcomes, and get practical insights for infusing these strategies into your own work.
