Biography
Mark Atkinson is the CEO of Mursion, which creates immersive VR training for essential skills in the workplace. Prior to launching Mursion, he served as a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University and an Executive in Residence at the New Schools Venture Fund. In 1999, Mark co-founded Teachscape, Inc., and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for twelve years. While at Teachscape, he served as an advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Measures of Effective Teaching Project.
Mark serves on the Board of Directors of PresenceLearning, Inc., The Achievement Network, Open-Up Resources, and the OnePurpose School. Mark is the Principal of Educopia LLC, a full service educational consulting firm with a proprietary web platform that delivers custom-developed, performance assessments to K-12 educators.
Before working in education, Mark served as Senior Producer and Manager of New Markets for CBS News Productions, and was an Emmy award winning Producer for Peter Jennings Reporting, ABC News, where he produced a series of network specials on U.S. foreign policy in Bosnia, Haiti and Iraq. He is a recipient of the Overseas Press Club Award, and the Alfred I. DuPont, Columbia University “Gold Baton” for his work in Bosnia.
Mr. Atkinson is a graduate of Yale College.
